I do not want to die
children are the promise of spring
I am just a child compared to the springs you have seen
and soon spring will melt away
to summer's heat
and summer will bloom and fade
when the trees, shaken by autumns desire to sleep
bare themselves to winter's silent soul
and the steady stagnation of a world without growth or change
yet waiting for the coming
of a spring I will never see
I do not want to die
I am just a child compared to the springs you have seen
and soon spring will melt away
to summer's heat
and summer will bloom and fade
when the trees, shaken by autumns desire to sleep
bare themselves to winter's silent soul
and the steady stagnation of a world without growth or change
yet waiting for the coming
of a spring I will never see
I do not want to die
